Slash was a punk rock related fanzine obtainable by Steve Samiof and Melanie Nissen in the United States from Could, to September, The magazine was cool large-format tabloid focusing on the Los Angeles punk/new wave scene, but along with covering the scenes in San Francisco, New York and London. Writers Claude "Kickboy Face" Bessy (from France), Craig Lee, Richard Meltzer, Jeffrey Lee Stab, Chris D., Phast Phreddie, and Positive Gehman, and cartoonist Gary Panter were among the major contributors. Photo contributors included David Arnoff, Ed Colver, Designer Lens, Ann Summa, coeditor Philomena Winstanley and many more..
